Experience
I am a highly successful, professional private tutor of mathematics and statistics with over 9 years experience guiding students at primary, secondary, GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, IB, TMUA, MAT, STEP and undergraduate levels. I have an in-depth knowledge of the curricula and question styles of the major exam boards.Before specialising as a tutor, I also enjoyed teaching in the classroom. This included teaching international foundation year students an A-level syllabus at Sheffield International College and INTO Queen’s University Belfast where 79% of my students achieved A or A* grades. At INTO QUB I also lectured undergraduate mathematics and the average mark gained by my class was 83%. In addition, I led undergraduate tutorials at the University of Sheffield and taught on the mathematics teacher training programme at Stranmillis University College where I received a rating of 98%.
I particularly enjoy teaching online and have given over 1000 hours in this way alone. This has enabled me to assist students all over the UK and also in France, USA, UAE, Mauritius, China and India.

Mathematics is a great passion of mine and I am continually fascinated by the surprising ways it underpins our understanding of both the universe and our daily lives. I especially enjoy using the knowledge and experience built up through my own studies (PhD & Masters) together with my array of teaching experience to create a uniquely student-centred approach to learning. My academic studies also provide a unique insight to emphasise the intuitive nature of the maths (drawing parallels between topics) and to simplify problem-solving processes. I enjoy working together with students at all levels to explore the beautiful patterns and structures of this fascinating discipline which underpins so much of the world around us.Availability (UK time)

Dr Tim has been helping our son in Y12 maths. He has an excellent knowledge of the curriculum our son is studying and teaches extremely well to the level our son is studying. Given Dr Tims depth of knowledge he has also been able to talk about the wider applications of what is being learnt. With exam questions he has been walking through examples and giving excellent pointers of what to watch out for at each stage of a question that would indicate any errors at an early stage so any incorrect working at the beginning of a long question can be caught and corrected. We are extremely happy with the work Dr Tim is doing with our son and can see how much more confident he is with his help.
