Experience
I am an enthusiastic and highly skilled educator with 30 years teaching experience in GCSE Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). During the last 4 years I have been a Deputy Headteacher in 3 schools in the North of England in charge of teaching and learning, ensuring that teaching standards and the curriculum enabled all students to make good progress. I have also had 5 years experience as an Assistant Headteacher in charge of teaching and learning and the introduction of new technologies to enhance both learning in the classroom and at home. I am familiar with many Science specifications and qualifications and have had 10 years experience as a Head of Science in 2 schools (London and North of England). I have also been an examiner for the AQA GCSE Science qualifications. Included in my experience I worked as a Teaching and Learning consultant in the North of England, looking at innovative ways to use technology to accelerate learning. In all my roles I have had responsibility for the pastoral care of groups of students and have extensive experience as a form tutor in all age groups from 11-16. In summary I have helped thousands of students of all backgrounds and abilities make progress in the 3 Sciences at secondary school, I am passionate about Science education and the success of any student I teach. Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak I have had lots of experience creating and delivering Science lessons remotely using software packages, this puts me in an ideal position to extend my experience into tutoring world-wide. In addition to my Science experience I have worked overseas for part of my career as a Teacher of English and also a personal tutor in Maths and Science.I have a passion for travel and have visited many continents and countries enjoying the culture and traditions of the regions I have visited.
